You may have heard that with TransferGo, you can send money abroad in just a few minutes. You may have heard that you’ll pay much lower fees than at the banks. You may think it sounds too good to be true, and you want to find out more.
Spoiler alert: it is all true. But there’s even more to us than that. Read on for everything you need to know about TransferGo.
How did TransferGo start?
Back in 2012, CEO Daumantas had an import and export business. But when it came to sending money abroad, he struggled. Slow transfers, big fees and zero customer service. He wanted to change all that.
He had a simple mission: to make sending money abroad as easy and fast as sending a text. And so TransferGo was born. An international money transfer company that allows you to send money at high speeds, low costs and with no hassle.
Who uses TransferGo?
TransferGo has 2.5 million users worldwide. Most of our customers are migrant workers sending money back home. From paying the mortgage on the family home to covering the cost of emergency repairs, TransferGo provides an important service for hard-working people.
Businesses make the most of our great rates, too. Whether you’re a sole trader or have a medium-sized business, TransferGo makes it easy for you to pay suppliers and employees. Bigger enterprises also benefit from our high-volume powerful payments using TransferGo’s API.
Where are TransferGo users from?
Everywhere. The TransferGo founders come from Lithuania, so the core market to begin with was eastern Europe. But it’s rapidly expanded over the years, covering the rest of Europe, Asia, North America, and parts of the Middle East and Africa.
TransferGo now has well over 60 receiver markets, 11 of which—including Japan, Nigeria and Singapore—were launched in 2020 alone. And we’re still growing.
How do TransferGo payments work?
TransferGo gets your money to where it needs to be, fast. You can have your money delivered in 30 minutes—and more often than not, it’ll take even less than that.
How’s it so quick? TransferGo doesn’t send money across borders. Instead, you make a local payment to TransferGo. We then make a local payment to the receiver. It makes the process a whole lot cheaper and faster.
Does TransferGo have any cool features?
It sure does. Last year we introduced sending money straight to someone’s card, saving you the hassle of finding out their IBAN. Another feature is our referral programme. If you invite a friend to use TransferGo’s services then you get £20. And you can invite as many people as you like.
There are great features for business users, too. Batch payments allow you to pay up to 50 suppliers or salaries at once, even if they’re in different countries. And for peace of mind, users can track the progress of their transfers every step of the way.
Who works at TransferGo?
TransferGo has a diverse, multilingual workforce. We were able to expand in 2020 to over 200 employees, with offices in London, Vilnius, Kaunas, Berlin, Istanbul and Warsaw.
We’re a dedicated, highly motivated team who work together to keep the company moving forward. Like our CEO Daumantas, we’re passionate about making it easier for people around the world to make low-cost money transfers.
Who are TransferGo’s partners?
TransferGo is constantly looking to create great partnerships, all of which help new and existing users make even better money transfers. We’ve built partnerships with over 30 local banks since starting out.
In 2020 alone, our partnership with Ripple has helped users send money to India in 30 minutes. We’ve teamed up with Sumsub and Veriff to improve the verification process. And our exciting new union with Visa and Mastercard has enabled us to launch our paying straight to card feature.
Does TransferGo have good customer service?
It’s better than good. Trustpilot rates our services as ‘Excellent’, and in 2020 we hit 4.9 stars out of 5. How is it so high? We’ve largely got our dedicated customer support team to thank.
TransferGo offers localised support in 9 different languages, and our average response time is just 13 seconds. So whatever your query, we’ll deal with it in a language you’ll understand, fast.
Is TransferGo safe?
Absolutely. TransferGo is a licensed Authorised Payment institution regulated by the FCA and supervised by HMRC. So we’re as secure as the banks.
Our platform is highly encrypted with institutional-grade security, as well. And we apply rigorous onboarding checks and compliances for additional security.
What’s next for TransferGo?
Every year TransferGo enables more people around the world to make easy, low-cost transfers. And 2021 will be no different, as we plan to reach out to more receiver markets.
This year will also see the introduction of the TransferGo wallet, allowing you to receive and store money in your TransferGo account. It’ll mean that your payments are faster and smoother than ever.
