Your team & impact

We are seeking an experienced Head of Risk who is responsible for the oversight and management of TransferGo’s Risk Management program. The Head of Risk will be responsible for ensuring all risk management requirements are met by local laws and regulations. The Head of Risk will build out the risk and outsourcing management programs.

The successful candidate will act as a senior leader within the Compliance & Risk function, reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer, oversight, and Board-level reporting.

Here’s what you’ll be doing as Head of Risk:

  • Develop and execute the Group’s risk management strategy in line with our growth objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and monitor Risk Appetite Statements and tolerance levels with senior management and the Board.
  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and management across financial, operational, compliance, strategic, reputational, ICT, and security domains.
  • Oversee and coordinate Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) to ensure robust control testing and accountability.
  • Maintain and enhance the company’s risk register, ensuring timely escalation of significant risks and incidents.
  • Provide regular risk reporting to the Board and leadership, including thematic reviews and forward-looking insights.
  • Strengthen enterprise risk frameworks, including incident management, crisis management, disaster recovery, and wind-down planning.
  • Enhance third-party and outsourcing risk management, ensuring effective due diligence, monitoring, and oversight.
  • Partner with business teams to embed risk management standards and methodologies across the organisation.
  • Support management in evaluating risks related to new products, business initiatives, partnerships, and market expansion.
  • Represent the company in risk-related discussions with regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong culture of risk awareness and accountability at all levels of the organisation.
  • Prepare ICT and security risk reports for regulators, ensuring resilience and compliance.

Here’s what we expect from You:

  • Proven experience in risk management, quality assurance, and regulatory obligations, ideally in a senior leadership role within financial services, fintech, or a regulated environment.
  • Deep understanding of quality assurance best practices, enterprise risk frameworks, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes, assess risk impact, and measure performance against objectives.
  • A natural leader and influencer, able to inspire teams, foster collaboration, and embed a culture of accountability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex risk matters clearly to senior leadership, the Board, and regulators.

And if you can also do this stuff, even better: 

  • Have experience in fintech and fast paced environment 
  • Have experience in scaling a function to full operational maturity
