TransferGo is a growing fintech scale-up on a mission to make the world a fairer place for migrants. We strive to provide tailored, more affordable financial services that make people's hard-earned money go further. Now in our 13th year, with close to 400 employees in offices across Europe and the UK, we’re crafting a brilliant, relevant product that makes a difference in people's lives and the well-being of their families.

We’ve come this far by building a talented, diverse workforce on a fair culture and our strong values. Having this strong team of employees, we can serve those who really need our product to make their lives better.

We’re looking for a Mid Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in .NET C#, who’s also open to working with other technologies, particularly PHP. This is a great opportunity for someone with a product-focused mindset - someone who sees the bigger picture, cares about the “why” behind the work, and is driven to build tech that makes a real impact.

About The Team

The Compliance & FinCrime team builds the core systems that protect our customers and our business. Our work ensures that transfers are safe and compliant end to end. We design and operate services for KYC and ongoing due diligence, screening and monitoring, fraud detection and prevention, decisioning, and case management. We also develop internal tools that empower operational teams to act quickly and effectively.

Current and past projects include integrating with identity verification and screening providers, building real‑time decisioning and rules engines, improving device and behavioural risk signals, enriching fraud analytics with partners, and scaling case workflows and controls across markets and licenses.

Being part of the Compliance & FinCrime engineering team means having a direct and measurable impact on customer trust, regulatory compliance, and company resilience. Engineers on this team solve complex, high‑throughput problems while building systems that make real‑time risk decisions across the globe. It’s a fast‑moving, high‑impact domain that offers deep technical challenges and meaningful outcomes. Team members also get the opportunity to work closely with major financial institutions, leading risk vendors, and cross‑functional partners across Product, Data, and Operations.

Here’s what you’ll be doing as a Backend Engineer:

  • Design, build and operate services in a cloud-native, service-oriented environment, which will be used by multi-platform applications and hundreds of thousands of users
  • Enjoy a great level of end-to-end autonomy, contributing to system design, implementation approach and production operations of your services - we truly believe in the “Builder’s mindset”
  • Work closely with Product Manager, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to build modern and scalable software
  • Develop backend features using .NET and PHP
  • Review Pull Requests
  • Investigate how certain features should be implemented from a technical perspective
  • Align with other engineers to ensure smooth collaboration across teams
  • Work in a team of strong professionals - a great chance to learn from senior and staff software engineers, engineering and product managers

Here’s what we’d love from our new Backend Engineer:

  • Proven experience in .NET development
  • Willingness and openness to work on existing solutions in PHP 8
  • A strong communicator who can use English effectively at work
  • Ability to detect problems and proactively create solutions
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Passion for engineering innovation and best practices
  • A desire to share knowledge and support the growth of others around you

It would be awesome if:

  • You have experience in delivering quality software solutions
  • You’ve worked with microservice architecture
  • You have experience with large-scale distributed and event-driven systems
  • You’ve deployed backend applications at scale using AWS or a similar provider
  • You enjoy building products that have a real user impact
  • You’re enthusiastic about technology and engineering best practices
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and can help guide the team to the best solution
  • You’re excited about growing your knowledge and career in a scaling fintech company

Here are some of our core tools helping us to get the job done:

  • Runtime: .NET, PHP
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kafka
