And we’re very proud to have been the main sponsor at this year’s 31st WOŚP Grand Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in London.

This year, the money raised will be used to purchase new equipment to fight sepsis.

What is the Concert of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity?

On 28th January 2023 (the day before The Grand Final), a concert of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was held at the Scala Club in London.

The event took place between 4pm and 11pm and featured Gabinet Looster, 40 Procent, Beauty for Ashes, DJ Space Jack and Red Lips, with an afterparty following the concert.

The history of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP), built from scratch by Jurek Owsiak, is now in its 31st year. Since its inception in 1993, it has demonstated what true solidarity is and the power of people uniting to help those in need.

With the money raised, Wielka Orkiestra not only buys the most modern equipment for paediatrics and finances nationwide medical programs, but it also supports the care of the oldest patients.

The equipment donated by WOŚP to hospitals is often the basis for the functioning of different departments. Neonatologists confirm that there is no ward for newborns in Poland that has not been equipped by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

So far, Wielka Orkiestra has supported the treatment of patients in the field of:

  • Pediatric cardiosurgery
  • Geriatrics
  • Neonatology
  • Pediatric orthopedics and traumatology
  • Pediatric Nephrology
  • Pediatrics
  • Pulmonology

In 2022, the purpose of the collection was children’s ophthalmology. WOŚP collected as much as PLN 224,376,796.35 from 29 countries around the world! This is almost PLN 13.5 million more than the year before. The staff in London together with its volunteers collected PLN 425,075.86.

A final word…

So far, this year’s event has raised PLN 154 606 764 worldwide with the London event alone raising over £40,000. A final figure is due to be announced at the end of February. Watch this space.

On behalf of the entire TransferGo team, we’d like to thank everyone who joined us in supporting the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in the fight against sepsis.

Our Development Manager, Kateryna Konovalova adds: “I’m glad that TransferGo had the opportunity to join the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in London as the main sponsor this year. We’re very happy to support the Polish community in London and make our modest contribution in the fight against sepsis.”
